This article will help you find the reasons for often Scheduler questions.

1. How is Last show time influencing a schedule?

One of the reasons for an empty schedule after a certain hour could be the setting for Last show time. It refers to the last possible time a show is allowed to start.

This is configurable from Constraints Cinema Opening Hours in the right hand side.

The Last show time is different per holiday, non-holiday and for every day of the week.

It is a very important setting because the Scheduling Engine will not automatically schedule shows that start later than what you have set here.

2. How can opening hours influence a schedule?

Shows will not be scheduled automatically outside the Cinema Opening Hours.

It can happen that your cinema has different hours for holiday and non-holiday; if the time difference is large it can happen that the scheduling engine has nothing as reference at that time if nothing played there previous week.

Example: Let’s assume that for a non-holiday the Night timeslot is not included in your opening hours, but it is for a holiday. Overriding films in the Night timeslot will help the scheduling engine know what films to schedule then.

3. Why are children films playing hours important?

Children films cannot be scheduled at any time. For this purpose we have the 4th tab of the Constraints page, called Children Film Playing Hours.

The Children Film Playing Hours refer to the time interval in which children films are allowed to start.

Example: Let’s say that you have set on one time the values between 10:00 16:00. This means that the earliest time a children film can start is 10:00 and the latest time is 16:00.

In case the scheduling engine does not schedule a children film as you requested, this is the setting that you should check.

Like the opening hours and last show time settings, the children films playing hours is a strict constraint, i.e. the scheduling engine is not allowed to violate them.

The Children Film Playing Hours are different per holiday, non-holiday and for every day of the week.
